What a recorded insurance statement is
A recorded statement is an audio interview the insurer stores. It is often scheduled a few days after a crash, when you may still be sore, tired, or unsure about sequence.
Stick to facts you know: date, location, vehicles, weather. “I do not know” is a complete answer for speed estimates, exact distances, and what the other driver was doing on their phone.
Your own policy may require cooperation. That is not the same as agreeing to a casual recorded call before you have the police report or medical notes. Ask whether the statement is required, who will attend, and whether you can receive a copy.
