Houston freeways after a fender-bender
Houston freeway shoulders are narrow and traffic is fast. If vehicles can roll, many officers and signs tell drivers to move out of live lanes when it is safe. A second collision on the shoulder is a known risk.
Call 911 when anyone is hurt, vehicles cannot move, or fluids are on the roadway. Note the nearest exit and mile marker. Photos from a safe location beat standing in a travel lane for a perfect angle.
TxDOT and city cameras exist on major routes. They are not always stored long. If the crash is serious, ask promptly whether footage can be requested.
